Processors
The processor, also known as the CPU, or Central Processing Unit,
is one of the most important components of a computer. It does most
of the work involved in running your computer. The number of your processor’s
speed, such as 1.2 GHz or 900 MHz, is the amount of cycles the processor
runs through in a second.
As important as the CPU is, it cannot function without the other parts
of your computer. For instance, it needs the power supply to run, and
the graphics card displays whatever the CPU processes.
You will get better performance from a faster processor, but it will
also be more expensive. If you get the fastest processor, it can last
you for several years, as software technology takes more time to develop
than hardware technology. This means you can still use it to run current
and future programs.
