Brightness

LCD monitors have the upper hand in this category compared to CRT monitors. CRT monitors often waver in brightness and clarity when placed in a room with bright lighting, whereas an LCD monitor performs with amazing brightness and clarity.

Colour

Most upscale CRT monitors can give LCD monitors a run for their money when it comes to the range of colour display. However, cheaper CRT monitors might not do as well, and for those who intend to use their computer for more professional purposes, a higher quality CRT monitor is recommended.

Contrast

Contrast is a huge consideration, especially when there is low light in a room. In some monitors, black might appear grayish if you do not adjust the contrast appropriately.

In this category, CRT monitors have the advantage that its LCD counterpart. This, however, is significant only to professional computer users.

Today, LCD monitor manufacturers now apply a low reflective coating on their screens to lessen the glare from the screen as well as to improve the monitor’s contrast ratio.
