Downloading screensavers

Each day, around 4.8 million people download screensavers and most of these screensavers are downloaded from hundreds of sites that offer a wide range of screensavers. Most sites offer free screensavers while others sell their screensaver programs. Users, however, should be careful in downloading screensavers, especially those that are offered for free. Some screensavers that are downloaded have attached adware, spyware and even viruses.

Installing and using screensavers

After downloading screensaver programs, installing them would be the next step. During the installation process, files of the screensaver programs will be copied to the system directory. Once installed, the screensaver will be included in the list of available screensavers. This list can be seen in the Display Preferences dialog box.

To open the Display Preference dialog box, right-click on the desktop and select Properties from the menu. Click on the Screen Saver tab to show the list of screensavers available. After selecting from the list, the user may adjust settings of the desired screensaver. During the setup process, the user can also preview the selected screensaver.
